Annual Nova Scotia Recycles Contest
2007 Contest Winners Honoured
Thanks to all the teachers and students who submitted entries for the 2007 Nova Scotia Recycles Contest. Our judging committee reviewed over 8700 entries from more than 230 schools! Students were honoured at awards celebrations across the province in February, and were rewarded with a variety of prizes, including backpacks, movie passes and many environmentally friendly products made from recycled material. Dozens of schools were also recipients of cash prizes totalling more than $30,000! The grand prize winner of the $5,000 scholarship, Nicole Crozier of Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford, was surprised at an awards ceremony that took place at the Brightwood Golf and Country Club in Dartmouth. Nicole's well researched and well written essay was titled "Changing Youth Consumer Habits," and focused on ways to educate our youth to be more environmentally conscious consumers. Please follow the links to the right for the complete list of winners by region. Who, What, When and How?The Nova Scotia Recycles Contest is an opportunity to take action and promote waste reduction in your community. The purpose of the contest is to encourage participation in recycling and composting programs, and to celebrate the ongoing role of Nova Scotia youth in making this province a recognized leader in waste reduction.
