RRFB Nova Scotia is pleased to announce the allocation of funds in the amount of $112,000 for the 2007-2008 fiscal year to assist in the disposal of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). The funds will be distributed equally among the seven waste management regions within the Province of Nova Scotia.

To ensure that all municipalities within a region have an opportunity to participate in this program, we will hold all requests for funding until February 29, 2008. Funds will then be allocated within regions based on applications received prior to March 1, 2008.

Eligible materials and claimable amounts are listed below. All claims must be accompanied by copies of paid invoices and copies of the corresponding cancelled cheques.

    Mobius Icon  Oxidizers - to a maximum of $185 per lab pack
    Mobius Icon  Corrosives - to a maximum of $145 per lab pack
    Mobius Icon  Flammables - to a maximum of $130 per lab pack
    Mobius Icon  Pesticides - to a maximum of $225 per lab pack
    Mobius Icon  Waste Oil - to a maximum of $ 85 per lab pack
    Mobius Icon  Aerosols - to a maximum of $150 per lab pack
    Mobius Icon  Propane - to a maximum of $325 per lab pack/ $ 4.00 per tank
    Mobius Icon  Glycol - to a maximum of $ 85 per lab pack
    Mobius Icon  Batteries - to a maximum of $100 per lab pack

Event set up fees may be reimbursed on a 50/50 cost basis up to a maximum of $1,000 per region.

Residential paints ineligible for collection through the ENVIRO-DEPOTâ„¢ system may be included in the flammable category.

RRFB Nova Scotia must be recognized in all written or verbal communication related to this program, as approved by the Education Officer (Alanna McPhee). Print advertisements (i.e. newspaper advertisements, press releases, brochures) must include RRFB Nova Scotia's logo, as specified by RRFB Nova Scotia. Broadcast advertisements (i.e. TV, radio) must mention RRFB Nova Scotia's sponsorship. Please allow a minimum of five (5) working days for the Education Officer to review your submission. Newspaper, radio and cable advertising may be reimbursed on a 50/50 cost basis subject to approval. Failure to obtain written approval from RRFB Nova Scotia may result in non-payment of program funding.

  • Cardboard and Newspapers
    Recycle old corrugated cardboard, boxboard* (cereal boxes), office paper and newspapers through your municipal recycling programs. Check with your local municipality for details. Some Enviro-Depots also accept old corrugated cardboard and newspapers.
