Residential ENVIRO-DEPOT™ and Curbside Recycling

Nova Scotians are Champions for the Environment. Nova Scotians are rising to the challenge and recycling materials through local ENVIRO-DEPOT™ and at curbsides in their communities. Through recycling, Nova Scotians are diverting significant quantities of waste from disposal and creating jobs and valuable products right here in Nova Scotia.

The Province of Nova Scotia is maximizing the return of recyclable materials through disposal bans on the following items:

  • Redeemed beverage containers
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Newsprint
  • Steel/tin food containers
  • Glass food containers
  • Waste paint
  • Car batteries
  • Used tires
  • Antifreeze
  • #2 HDPE non-hazardous plastic containers (e.g. ice cream containers, shampoo bottles, plastic jugs, etc.)
By diverting these valuable resources from disposal, we are turning a problem into an opportunity.

Where Nova Scotians Can Recycle the Banned Materials
