Ross Maybee has made an extensive, and impressive, career out of finding solutions to problems. At the centre of Nova Scotia's waste-resource management strategy since 1993, he's made invaluable contributions provincially and in the Valley Region. Throughout his career, Ross has demonstrated not only a commitment to excellence, but also vision and leadership. He led the implementation of a comprehensive, waste-resource management system covering Kings and Annapolis Counties, and managed the most extensive and collaborative inter-municipal waste management authority in Nova Scotia.
At Valley Waste-Resource Management, he manages an organization that has repeatedly been recognized for excellence in waste reduction services, communications and enforcement activities, transfer station operations and financial management. He was also instrumental in developing and promoting a centre of excellence and showcase facility in Colchester County -where recycling, composting and waste diversion becomes an educational experience. He has promoted Nova Scotia's waste management technology and expertise abroad - and done all this, and more, with a winning way. All good reasons why Ross Maybee is the 2006 Mobius Award recipient for Individual Excellence in Waste Reduction.
Ross Maybee accepted his award at the 8th Annual RRFB Nova Scotia Mobius Environmental Awards held at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel in Halifax on April 27, 2006.
