Dutch Brook Disposal Services Limited, winner of the 2006 Mobius Environmental Hauler of the Year Award, is a company dedicated to customer service, continuing education and diverting materials from the landfill. In Dutch Brook, Cape Breton, Scott and Jodi Richards own and operate a solid waste-resource management business that collects and diverts more than 23 tonnes of recyclables from the landfill each month. Dutch Brook is also encouraging their residential and commercial customers to take a hands-on approach to composting.

Staff at Dutch Brook Disposal Services are on the job 24-hours a day, seven days a week. They work with their customers one-on-one, providing information and practical help that makes recycling and composting an easier choice. Scott Richards grew up on a farm where recycling and composting were a way of life. He has carried these values on to his business, setting a good example for others to follow.

Scott and Jodi Richards, owner-operators of Dutch Brook Disposal Services Ltd, accepted the Hauler of the Year Award at the 8th Annual Mobius Environmental Awards held in Halifax on April 27, 2006.
