Paddy's Brew Pub and Rosie's Restaurant employ 60 people at their restaurants located in Kentville and Wolfville. Solid waste-resource management is part of the mix in their everyday business environment, where waste management issues are dealt with regularly at staff meetings and employees are trained to understand their individual responsibilities toward reducing waste. As well, waste management issues are woven into operational decisions. For example, the restaurant chooses cakes that come in boxes that can be composted and the company tries to use cleaning products that are environmentally friendly. The sorting efforts of staff and the public at Paddy's Brew Pub's two locations consistently divert approximately 50 per cent of waste material away from the landfill.

For these efforts, Paddy's Brew Pub and Rosie's Restaurant were awarded the 2006 Mobius Environmental Award for Business of the Year. Chris Poberezny, Paddy's coordinator of Environmental Services, accepted the award on behalf of Paddy's Brew Pub and Rosie's Restaurant at an awards celebration held at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax on April 27, 2006.
