David Arenburg is President of Adcor Marketing, which is the franchisee for Tim Horton’s and Wendy’s in Yarmouth and Southwest Nova Scotia. When Waste Check contacted David in 2001 about composting and recycling restaurant waste, David wanted to go beyond what was expected of restaurants at the time and install front-of-the-counter compost and recycling stations for his customers to use. David is a supporter of community clean-ups in Southwestern Nova Scotia and provides hot chocolate and garbage bags for volunteers.

When David heard that the Regional Chairs throughout Nova Scotia planned to enforce the ban on organics and recyclables headed for landfill disposal, he took a pro-active stand. He contacted Tim Horton’s head office and worked with Waste Check in the Western Region to implement front-of-the-counter source-separation of waste in all Tim Horton’s locations throughout Nova Scotia. David’s initiative toward reducing litter and protecting the environment is to be commended.

David Arenburg accepted the RRFB Nova Scotia Mobius Award for Individual Excellence in Waste Management.
