.The Kings Regional Rehab Centre is a special needs facility for 200 individuals located in Waterville. With assistance from Valley Waste Resources, the facility has implemented a comprehensive action plan to reduce its waste, recycle and compost. Residents and staff actively participate in waste reduction and recycling programs, which have become part of the daily routine of the Centre. The Green Team at the Centre has representation from every department and actively takes steps to reduce the amount of waste generated. For example re-usable plastic dinnerware has been substituted for disposable Styrofoam, used clothing is reused or recycled, and re-use and recycling activities have been incorporated into the therapy rehabilitation program of the residents.

Kings Rehab has also partnered with ACA Coop, a large poultry producer in the area to wash, sort and re-use gloves from the plant. The Centre also partners with Michelin Tire to collect and sort redeemable beverage containers from the tire plant. At Kings Rehab, nothing goes to waste.

Ginny Point, a dietician at the Centre, accepted the RRFB Nova Scotia Mobius Award for Institution of the Year on behalf of Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre.
