2008 Award Recipient Jill Clausson-Munro

Congratulations to both the winners and honourable mentions of the 2008 Mobius Environmental Awards. The annual awards were presented at a luncheon in Halifax on April 16th, as part of the Canadian Waste-Resource Symposium. The Award winners represent some of the most outstanding businesses, organizations, and individuals when it comes to waste reduction.

Nova Scotia Recycles Contest Winners Honoured!

Thanks to all the teachers and students who submitted entries for the 2007-08 Nova Scotia Recycles Contest. Our judging committee reviewed over 8,700 entries from more than 230 schools! Students were honoured at awards celebrations across the province in February, and received many great prizes, including backpacks, movie passes, and scholarships for grade 12 students. In addition, the schools of winning and runner-up students received over $30,000 in cash prizes.

Electronics Recycling Program Started February 1st

ACE Stewardship website

As of February 1, 2008, Nova Scotians are able to recycle computers, monitors, printers and televisions responsibly by dropping them off at an ACES Drop-off Centre. Atlantic Canada Electronics Stewardship (ACES), an industry-led not-for-profit association, is responsible for the program in Nova Scotia.

Used Tire Collection and Processing

Until a new tire management strategy is developed, RRFB Nova Scotia will continue to collect used tires throughout the province and ship these tires to approved facilities.
